This 1.5 mile loop trail will take you through a journey to the origin of the recent Hat Creek Lava Flow, a beautiful area with many spattercones and associated volcanic features. Some portions of the trail can be steep. Due to open, less shaded conditions, it is best to take this hike in the early morning or late afternoon. Distance: 1.5 miles. Difficulty: Moderate.
